Tadesse Mesfin

Tadesse Mesfin was born in 1953 in Woldia. He graduated from the then Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts(the present day Addis Ababa University Alle School of Fine Arts and Design). He also received a Masters of Fine Arts in painting from the Saint Petersburg Repin Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He exhibited in France, Germay, Russia and the US. Tadesse’s everlasting affluence for his artistic awakening originates from his visit to the Southern Ethiopia, specifically from a place called Yabello. Tadesse’s accomplishment as a persisting painter, educator,(he taught at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design for 33 years) and illustrator (he played a key role in the design of Ethiopia’s coins and notes) enabled him to win the Life-time Award of Ethiopian Fine Arts and Mass Media National Prize in 1998.
